Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he enjoyed taking part in different card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting very aggressive in these particular card games as he was playing his father. After finishing high school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little while and moved to New York to play some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and fail to win most times. He made some additional cash by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He believed he possibly could better his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus attention even more on poker.
The actual advancement in his skills happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would regularly challenge one another. Howard was able to access a few of the foremost minds in chess. He headed to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in cash games for the following 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, Howard decided to play more tournaments.
