No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he enjoyed betting on different card games when he was young. He discovered himself becoming very aggressive in these card games while competing against his father. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard decided to put higher education on hold for a little while and headed to New York to play some serious chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were rough as he would play extensive hours and lost a majority of the time. He made some extra money by being an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he could boost his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an attempt to get more sleep and focus attention even more on the game.

The real advancement in his game began when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable players would often challenge each other. Howard was able to access several of the foremost players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would sharpen his logical thinking skills. He applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit hold’em.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. She was a superb student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct decision. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie is one of the greatest women players the poker world today. Howard moved to Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the following 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
