Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
